Chartwells Committee
As part of my role on the Campus Infrastructure Committee, I am the SGA member on the Chartwells Committee. Every Thursday at noon, we meet with Chartwells directors in Mather. We offer suggestions, comments, questions, and concerns to Chartwells about all three eateries on campus. Toby Chenette, the Director of Dining Services, is very friendly and eager to please the students. We are, in fact, the ones eating the food. I have asked about a variety of things including more fruits and vegetables in Mather to getting different hours at the Bistro. We discussed the topic of Trayless Tuesdays that have been recently implemented in Mather. As much as they are completely open to the idea of getting rid of the trays all together, the bigger issue is the amount of food waste that is created each day. Sure the amount of water saved on not washing the trays is a good way to save water, but reducing our food waste would make even more of a difference. We have also opened up the idea of “rollover” flex dollars. I personally hope that this will come to pass. I look forward to seeing some of our suggestions taking place soon. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to: let me know, send Toby an email, or come to the meeting! It is open to all students, and they are interested in a variety of voices on campus. See you next thursday at noon in Mather!
