What has the Campus Infrastructure Committee been up to this semester?

Rebecca Herrigel ’10, Peter Walters ’11, Mark LaVoie ’11, Lorenzo Sewanan ’12, and I (Krystal Ramirez ’10) have been hard at work. Here are a few bullet points about what we’ve accomplished thus far:


  • Acquired EnergyMisers (devices to make vending machines more efficient)
  • Passed a resolution in support of dormitory telephone service upgrades
  • Received a guarantee from the Director of Information Technology that at least 50% of dorms on campus will have wireless access by January 2009, and that the remainder will have access by September 2009
  • Had preliminary meetings with the Facilities Department to ascertain why students do not have access to dorms via their PACs
  • Have received progress updates from the Recycling Task Force
  • Have met weekly with the head of Chartwells dining services and made suggestions for improvement
  • Have met with the architects in charge of constructing the campus pub
  • Have begun looking into upgrades for dorm bathrooms and laundry rooms
