President Letter (08/11/11)
Dear First-Year Bantams!
Congratulations and welcome to Trinity College! What is in store for you is an exciting adventure, ready to sweep you away unless you seize its reins. My name is Panida, and I have been elected as the Student Government Association President for the year 2011-2012. The SGA is committed to representing your voice on every issue facing Trinity students.
In less than a month you will be starting a path of your own design. Be daring. Your distribution requirements will be satisfied as you explore your interests and will no longer dictate every choice you make when selecting classes. I ask you to be open to enjoying each new day as a fresh start. These years will accelerate and the only way to slow down time is to live each second without regrets. I am excited to see what you will bring to Trinity and what Trinity will add to you. Ultimately, it is up to you to unlock your potential.
Do not hesitate to contact me. I will have office hours in Jones 105 and can also be reached by email for any questions and concerns. Check out www.trintysga.com for a complete list of goals that I am excited to accomplish with the SGA!
Good luck with your first year! I am looking forward to working with you to shape the Trinity that will make you proud to be a Bantam.
Sincerely,
Panida Pollawit ‘12

Fellow Students,
As all of you are aware, another racially charged incident has occurred on our campus this past weekend. As elected officials of the student body, we strongly condemn these repeated acts of racism.
We ask that all students join us in condemning these discriminatory acts on our campus. Tomorrow, during Common Hour, members of the community will stand in solidarity against this intolerance. We hope that you will join.

Hello everyone,
Every year, a randomly selected group of students are surveyed about their colleges and their answers determine the ranking and the profile of their schools. This year, we want to give everyone the opportunity to talk about Trinity College. What were the first things that appealed to you? What have you learned about student life through your year(s) here at Trinity? Most importantly, what do you want prospective students to know about Trinity before they arrive?
PLEASE help us answer these questions in a 5 to 10-minute survey. Your input is essential in the creation of a brand-new Trinity College guidebook for the College Prowler Guide series. You can skip as many questions as you’d like, or stop and come back to finish the survey at a later point. The survey is anonymous! To get started, you will need to create a username and password of your choice. This is your opportunity to contribute your own words to help write Trinity’s story. Please click on the link below to begin: http://collegeprowler.com/trinity-college/survey/

Fellow students,
Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful break and are ready for a great semester. Over the break, the SGA has worked on a few things that affect a lot of students that I would like to bring to your attention.
We worked with the College to ensure that students are no longer charged a fee for taking more than 5.75 credits a semester. The College has agreed to remove the fee for the following: Teaching Assistantship, Research Assistantship, Internship, Independent Study, Private music lessons, Music Ensemble and First- Year Mentors. This is effective immediately, which means you can sign up for any of the aforementioned programs before the end of the Add-Drop period. We will continue to work with the College so that beginning next year students will not be charged $4,490 for additional courses.
We have also redesigned our website. We have added a mechanism for students to report negative encounters with Campus Safety. This includes the dispatchers, officer(s) and shuttle drivers. Please make sure to note the date and time and the name of the officers involved. We also encourage all students to always be respectful to Campus Safety. If you have something positive to say about an officer, please feel free to share that as well. You can file a report at: www.trinitysga.com
Thank you and good luck on your first day of classes.
