“My SGA” Facebook Group

Elections, Recruitment, & Communications No Comments »

Hey folks fyi there is now an SGA Facebook group you can check out and join, the full title is “My SGA: A Group for Trinity Students.” Thanks to Malcolm Brown (newly elected VP of MAC) for thinking of this idea and bringing it to the ERC Committee.

Most of the info in the My SGA group actually posts links bringing you back here to the SGA Website. The Facebook group doesn’t replace this website, but supports it. While you can get quick info, RSVP to SGA events, and post on the Wall, these sorts of things can also be done on the Website (e.g. Did you know anyone can post on this Blog? It’s easy!) So, join My SGA but don’t forget that the Website is where all the action is!!

Stay connected, everybody.

Thank you!

Hey just thought I’d also drop a line about the SGA Newsletter that went into everybody’s mailbox today at noon. The idea was developed by Eamon Welch ‘09 of ERC, and furthered by the ERC Committee, so thanks to your Senators for keeping everybody updated! If you have questions about anything in there (as in, “how can I get a free meal through After Office Hours), browse this Blog and of course feel free to email me at adam.katcher@trincoll.eduP.S. wRAP It Up free STD/HIV testing tomorrow at Austin Arts during Common Hour. Malcolm Brown, Chair of the Safety and Wellness Committee, is making sure we all stay healthy and have a good time (food and live music). Be sure to swing by!

On the Can

Elections, Recruitment, & Communications No Comments »

Nature Calls, and the SGA answers:

An inevitable aspect of college life is use of “The Can.” To make this aspect of Student Life more fulfilling, and to integrate the SGA into your daily lifestyle, the ERC Committee created On the Can, an idea spawned by Joe Melillo and carried out by Joe and his fellow Senators.

On the Can is essentially a “flyer” posted on the back doors of bathroom stalls. This glorious source of reading material will serve as yet one more way for you to stay informed as to how the SGA is serving the student body.

On the Can is coming soon to a facility near you. Enjoy.

Constitutional Referendum Wednesday by online vote

Elections, Recruitment, & Communications No Comments »

The SGA will be holding an online student referendum to vote on changes to the SGA Constitution. You will receive an email on Wednesday, December 17 through which you can vote.

Here are a few of the proposed changes that a “Yes” vote would support:

  • Create the Entertainment Activities Council (EAC) to replace the Trinity College Activities Council (TCAC):

Under the change, EAC will replace TCAC and become a branch of the SGA. It will allocate the EAC Budget to student groups requesting money for parties and events. EAC will include members elected by the student-body and will be led by the Vice President of Student Entertainment elected to the SGA Executive Board.

  • Create the position of Financial Secretary to serve Budget Committee and EAC
  • Increase the number of student-elected representatives on Budget Committee from four to seven members
  • Eligibility requirements for candidates of SGA Executive Board positions (e.g. one semester of experience on SGA)

Secretary Position

Elections, Recruitment, & Communications No Comments »

Hello again,

As our beloved secretary, Rebecca, will be graduating at the end of this year, we are looking for a new secretary so that Rebecca can train him or her. Below are the duties of the secretary. If you are interested in the position, please come to the SGA meeting this Sunday, November 9th, prepared with a 2-3 minute speech on your qualifications and why you would be the best person for the job. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at jordyn.sims@trincoll.edu.

As a non-voting member of the SGA, the Secretary’s duties include:
- attend and take minutes at: full senate meetings, steering board meetings
- maintain attendance records
- compile and make copies of the agenda for every full senate meeting
- make copies of all resolutions for each full senate meeting
- compile documents for the webmaster to post online
- assist the executive board

The secretary position is large time-commitment and should not be taken lightly. As a result, the position does include a $650 stipend per semester. Ideally we would like someone who can hold this position for two or more semesters. Unfortunately seniors cannot apply as we try to create as much continuity as possible with this position.

Again, if you have any questions, please e-mail me at jordyn.sims@trincoll.edu and we look forward to meeting all of the interested candidates at this Sunday, November 9th’s meeting!

Thanks,
Jordyn Sims
