If everyone takes away one message from the rally today, I'd like it to be Tomas' message that we need to all personally stand up for one another in our every day lives. We need to take it upon ourselves to call out our friends when they say even passively racist or otherwise close-minded statements, and we need to take care to not use that sort of language ourselves. If moving forward, we all eliminate oppressive language from our own vocabularies, and make an effort to eliminate it from our peers' vocabularies, we'll be light-years ahead of where we stand today.
