DESCRIPTION OF OPEN POSITIONS IN SGA

    Sep 21, 2011   //   by Panida Pollawit   //   Uncategorized  //  No Comments

    Senate

Senator- Duties of the Senator are many-fold, but ultimately, his/her goal is to improve the students’ quality of life. The Senator is a part of a committee (see committee descriptions below) and they carry out a project specific to that committee. For example, if he/she belonged to the Student Life Committee and noticed that TrinAir was extremely slow, the Senator can go and investigate how to fix this problem. By being a part of SGA, the Senator will have the support system needed to find the right people and be given ways to approach the situation.

Senator-at-Large- The only differences between a senator and a senator-at-large are:

    1. The Senator-at-Large represents the entire student body instead of one class.
    2. They are elected in the end of the Spring Term in order to provide continuity to the SGA.

    SGA Budget Committee (SGABC)

Budget Committee Member- All student organizations approved by SGA, along with individual students/ groups on campus, can come to the SGABC to request funding for their event or project. As a member of the SGABC, one gets to decide how much funding this group receives. Furthermore, Budget Committee member takes part in reviewing the budgets of all of the cultural houses on Vernon/Allen street during the middle and end of the year. The decisions made by the member are guided by the Budget Allocation Manual (which can be found on the finance tab on this website). The Budget Committee member also gets to help determine the budget for the following year.

Paid Positions ($500/semester)- appointed by the Senate

General Secretary – Creates agenda and takes minutes for the Senate meetings. Agenda and minutes of the Senate will be posted on Trinity Today. Assists the President and Vice President of SGA.

Finance Secretary – Take minutes during SGABC and EAC meetings. Keep track of the finances and assist the Vice President of Finance and the Vice President of Entertainment of SGA.

Webmaster – Designs trinitysga.com and maintains the website.

Class Officers- (Although not officially a part of the SGA, this year we plan on collaborating to ensure that the Class Officers are most successful in their endeavors.)

President- The Class President is charged with promoting unity amongst the class from which they are elected. They can choose to carry this responsibility in any manner that they can conceive. This can be in the form of events on campus, purchasing a class t-shirt, etc. The President works with the Vice President and Secretary of the class.

Vice President- Aides the Class President in carrying out the responsibilities of the Class President.

Secretary- Aides the Class President and Class Vice President. The Secretary can contribute their own ideas and do what is necessary to carry out the responsibilities of being a Class Officer.
