Hot Water Update: Restoration Underway

Official SGA Post 2 Comments »

The problem is that the boiler in the basement of Jones has cracked. Maintenance crews have attempted to patch the boiler with only limited success. The boiler is currently not working and must be completely replaced. The school has brought in a temporary boiler (this is the large covered trailer currently outside of Jones) that should be up and running tonight. It would have been up and running earlier but installation crews have been experiencing difficulties. A new boiler is in transit and, with some luck, will be here tomorrow.

We will continue to stay in close contact with the Dean of Students and the Director of Facilities. If more information becomes available we will be posting it here.

Thank you for continuing to update us with the problems you are experiencing.

The Trinity of the Future

Senator Post 23 Comments »

The following letter was sent to all senators last night:

Fellow Senators,

I write to you this evening out of deep concern for the future of student life at our college. This Sunday we will make a decision that will affect SGA finances for the next 3 to 5 years. We will vote on cable, spending 600,000 to 1,000,000 in one day. As I currently serve on both of the main committees that control the Student Activities Fund, and I care deeply about this college and our organization, I feel that I should share my observations and concerns with you on this critical issue.

To understand the magnitude of this decision, please understand that the amount of money we will be approving to spend will be almost 1/3rd of the entire Student Activities Fund per year. Moreover, as we currently stand, we are completely out of money. The Budget Committee, on which I serve, has spent its 50,000 dollars for the semester (That’s right, we spend only 100,000 dollars a year from the budget committee on student activities out of a “Student Activities Account” that has almost 700,000 dollars annually). Remember, a sizeable amount of money does go to TCAC, but their budget is also less than this cable contract. From this point forward—and we are only halfway through the semester—requests to fund activities are being turned down.

The book, written by Beah at age 26, recounts his often stunning experiences as a young child experiencing the violence occurring in Sierra Leone and taking up arms for the government army at the age of 13. Beah recently appeared as a guest on The Jon Stuart Show. Enjoy watching this video clip from Comedy Central and stay tuned for more specifics as the event date draws near.

Trinity Boy Band Rocks YouTube

Humor 1 Comment »

Approximately 10 months ago these Trinity rock stars debuted their first YouTube single. Since that time their video has been viewed over 1,500 times. The making of this video, and its subsequent success, seems to have launched the members of this boy band into the bliss and joy of famed limelight. The band “was voted ‘most talented lip-sink boyband’ and ‘best looking lip-sink boyband’ in the Northeast!”

All this hoopla over the band has been in no small way fruitful for the band member’s personal lives. One YouTube admirer posts “Um this is so good. Can I please have your babies?” However, the real question still remains: What are these stars up to now and will they ever record together again?
