Moving Forward

VP Post 1 Comment »

I want to start by saying that i thought the rally today went extremely well. I would also like to extend my thanks to the people who spent so much time to make this great event possible.

The purpose of this post is simple, to keep the dialgoue going. I would love to hear ideas from anyone about how to make Trinity a more accepting and tolerant place.

I look forward to hearing what you have to say,

Bryce

Bearing in mind the fact that there are several important messages directly below mine (a not so subtle suggestion that you should read them), I’m going to keep this short. My name is Bryce Blum and I am the current SGA Executive Vice President. The message I have for you is simple: use the SGA as an outlet to affect whatever change you desire on campus. In the course of your first few weeks you will realize that Trinity isn’t perfect. No college is. But that doesn’t mean it can’t get better if you want it to. Whatever problem you encounter, no matter how big or small, the SGA will always be there to bring your problem to the attention of the right people and work towards a swift solution. My only hope is that you will not hesitate to contact myself or any other member of the SGA in order to help make Trinity a better place for everyone.

Sincerely,

Bryce Blum

Cable Results

Senator Post No Comments »

I thought Blake brought up an excellent point. Here is the resolution that was passed this Sunday night with regard to cable. I tried to bold the most important parts. Essentially, the SGA recognized the fact that if it didn’t step up to pay for cable in the coming year, no one else would. But we were also adamant about the fact that this is something that should be paid for by something other than the SAF so that the money can be redirected into what it was meant for, student activities. I just want to thank people for contributing all of their thoughts with us on this controversial issue. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about this resolution and other topics. Also, if there is a topic you would like to be brought to our attention, you can always post it on the website and get a fast response from a variety of SGA memebers.

Locknetics and Cable Forum

Wednesday, February 13th at 7:00pm
Terrace Room B

When Jarvis comes back online in the fall, the living quarters will be nothing short of palatial. But each bedroom in a typical suite (with six to nine persons living in the suite) WILL NOT have Locknetics on the doors. The SGA Housing Committee and Office of Campus Life wishes to gauge student opinion on this issue. To this end, the Housing Committee is hosting a forum Wednesday, February 13th at 7:00pm in Terrace Room B, Mather Hall to address this issue. Amy DeBaun, director of Campus Life, will also be on hand to answer questions students might have on this or other related issues.

Also, the SGA is currently in the process of renewing a new multi-year cable contract with Comcast.  Come voice your concerns and ask questions about this issue as well. Discussion of Cable will immediately follow the conversation on Locknetics.

2008 Student Needs Survey

Elections, Recruitment, & Communications 1 Comment »

The following is an excerpt from the opening page of the 2008 Student Needs Survey:

We randomly selected 800 Trinity College students for this survey, and mailed them links to the survey online on January 23rd 2008. After a week we mailed a reminder to the non-respondents. 342 students responded, amounting to a 43% response rate. Since the response rates varied significantly by gender and class year (from 34% among Soph males to 57% among 1st year females) results below have been weighted by gender and class year.

James J. Hughes Ph.D.,
Associate Director of
Institutional Research and Planning

Below is a preview of the kind of information you will find in the survey. You will also find a link where you can download the complete document.
