Jarvis
I learned from the recent global email about the housing lottery that there are plans to make Jarvis into the WAR ZONE for next year.
Personally this won’t affect me all that much as I’ll be abroad in the fall anyway, but I do think this is a change that should be considered by the SGA.
There is a great deal of student opposition to this change, including a Facebook group with
rapidly growing membership: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=107602262604952&ref=nf
Hopefully the SGA will look into this!
thanks
adam

Don’t worry Mr. Katcher. The SGA is currently drafting a resolution that hopefully addresses all of the concerns regarding the changes to the housing system (including WarZone/Jarvis)
Is any one on the SGA planning on posting to update us on what you guys are doing about the Jarvis mess? An update on the resolution presented last night? Anything?
What’s the point of this blog if you guys don’t post to tell us what you’re working on.
Sorry Andrea for a inherent lack of transparence, I’ll be sure to remind our Secretary to upload the minutes from the Senate meetings so more students like yourself can stay informed. I’m not sure if you have access to the Tripod, but every week there is a section providing students with updates regarding SGA actions (including the Jarvis/WarZone issues).
At last Sunday’s Senate meeting a Resolution was passed unanimously, urging the College Administration to not relocate Jarvis into the WarZone (this Resolution was Sponsored by Senator Greg Moniz)
Andrew Grubin has spoken to President Jones on the matter, and a meeting with Amy DeBaun, Susan Salisbury, Greg, and Andrew is scheduled for this week. We should a official response by Administration sometime next week.
Best Regards,
Terry

Considering that it’s thursday, and there are now 815 people in the “Save Jarvis” group (presumably 815 people who care about this issue), it would make sense for there to be a post (not a comment) about updates.
What are the results of double-G’s meeting with Amy and Susan? You guys do realize that you’re allowing the administration to buy time by not pressing for resolution now, and instead, waiting for their “official response” “sometime next week”.. sometime?
The housing office does actually need time to make arrangements before the lottery. If you guys want Jarvis to be in the lottery this year, you need to be full court pressing this issue now. Otherwise you’ll get trapped in the “there’s not enough time for this year, maybe next year” tactic that the administration uses issue after issue.
